Each class has a simple homework assignment for the students and will sometimes require the assistance of parents and/or sponsors. Assignments are due at the following class. These assignments are different than the sacramental Paperwork required for sacramental Eligibility.  

 

SEPtember 17TH (WITH PARENTS)

1. Students need to watch the video by themselves, then invite a parent(s) and/or sponsor to watch the video with them for a second viewing.

  • Students need to write one page explaining how the message of this video personally impacted them and why. Within the page, students should include their parent's and/or sponsor's thoughts and beliefs on the content of the video. 
  • Write honestly and from the heart, not what is thought to be "the correct answer". 
  • This page is to be turned into Ryan as a hard copy by October 22nd 

2. Students, parents, and sponsors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the site and processes.  


OCTOBER 22ND (WITH SPONSORS)

1. Students need to watch both videos and be ready to discuss them at the next class.

Taking notes for this might be helpful. 

2. Students should review the Works of Mercy Overview with their parents/sponsor.

3. Families should continue working on the the sacramental paperwork required for sacramental eligibility (the red folder). 


NOVEMBER 12TH

No Homework. Work on red folder assignments. 


DECEMBER 10TH

No Homework. Work on red folder assignments. 


January 21st

1. Watch "What Constitutes a Practicing Catholic?".

2. Watch it again with your parent(s) and/or sponsor.

3. Write one page describing your personal thoughts on the video, parent(s) and/or sponsor thoughts on the video, and any questions each of you may have.

This Class Assignment is due on January 28th.


January 28th

This week we are looking at suffering.

1. Choose one of the videos below that both talk about suffering.

2. Please write a page exploring...

- Which video you chose and how it alters your perspective.

- What sin is.

- How it makes you feel hearing that God is with us in our sufferings.

- Bonus: Have your parent and/or sponsor watch it and write down what their thoughts on suffering are.

Write honestly and from the heart, not what is thought to be "the correct answer". 

This Class Assignment is due on February 18th.


February 18th

1. Watch Video

2. Type one page exploring... What was new to you, What might be confusing, How this video did or didn’t change your viewpoint of Jesus and interacting with what the video calls ‘The Snake”, and What the connection is between this video and the videos from last week’s homework on suffering?

This Class Assignment is due on February 25th.


February 25th

1. Watch Video and  with one page, directly answer the following questions:

What does holiness mean to the Church?

What does holiness mean to you?

Do you ever wonder what God has in store for you? Why?

What vocation do you currently see yourself living out? Why?

What are some aspects that seem neat of the vocation you don’t see yourself in.

This Class Assignment is due on March 4th.


March 4th

No Class Assignments this week. Focus on Red folder assignments and Works of Mercy.

There are follow up videos for social issues over on the class review tab to enjoy at your convenience (this is not an assignment). 


March 11th

Write one page describing your thoughts, feelings, questions, etc from this video. You may take this as deep or shallow as you’d like. Within your page also tell us how excited are you for Avengers: Infinity War? And make sure to look up and define what “the beatific vision” is.

This Class Assignment is due on March 18th. 


March 18th (OPTIONAL)

  • Take time to pray

    • To God

    • To your saint

  • Do you notice a difference between how you pray to God verses praying to your saint?

  • Do you feel a personal connection to your saint? Explain that experience.

  • Share your general thoughts on your experience of prayer longer than a half page but shorter than a full page.

This does not have a due date but can be given to Ryan at your own convenience given that this is optional.
